Chief Operations Officer

Nigel was appointed Chief Operations Officer in February 2025, and has accountability for the complete ecosystem of how JLR delivers vehicles to its global markets. A key priority for Nigel is ensuring JLR’s robust, sustainable endtoend supply chain works as part of a fully deployed and connected industrial strategy. This aims to deliver greater efficiency and resilience of the company’s industrial operations.   

He began his career at Ford Motor Company, holding several positions during a 14year stay, before moving to BAE Systems as a Director in 2005, where he spent seven years.  

Nigel joined JLR in 2012 to lead the creation of our Engine Manufacturing Centres in the UK, China and India, before heading up our Solihull Operations and then taking up an Executive Director position leading the Quality function. Until recently, Nigel led the core transformation functions, bringing alignment and valuecreation focus to Information & Digital Technology, Business Excellence, Technology Business Services India and the Value Optimisation Office. He has been instrumental in our Reimagine strategy and has proved to be the type of leader who truly acts for the enterprise, end to end.   

Nigel is a strong team leader with a passion for developing the next generation of talent. At the forefront of the sector, he is a Non‑Executive Director of Make UK, member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and is a strong advocate of the Shingo Model, a principlesbased approach to operational excellence that focuses on creating the right culture, behaviours and systems to drive continuous improvement and sustainable results.
